Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 24, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Bouncer ("Company," "we," "our," or "us") handles information when you use the Bouncer iOS app ("Bouncer" or the "App").
Bouncer is an iOS app blocker and flashcard study app. Users create study decks, flashcards, study progress, block rules, app selections, and settings. We design Bouncer to prioritize focus and privacy, with as much data as possible stored on-device.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you create in the app
Bouncer may store data that you create, such as:
- Study decks, flashcards, folders, and study progress.
- Block rules, selected apps, and unblock challenge settings.
- In-app preferences and related app settings.
2.2 Purchase and subscription information
If you subscribe, Apple processes App Store payments and payment details. We do not receive your full payment card information. We may receive limited subscription status and entitlement information from Apple and RevenueCat to manage access and restore purchases.
2.3 AI generation input
If you use AI generation features, the text you enter is sent to Bouncer's secure AI service to generate flashcards.
Do not upload private or sensitive information into AI generation.
2.4 Diagnostic and analytics data
We may use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics for analytics, crash reporting, debugging, and reliability improvements. This may include events, app version, device model, and error data.
2.5 Data we do not intentionally collect
We do not intentionally collect private content inside other apps. Bouncer does not read your messages, emails, photos, or in-app content from blocked or selected apps.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Run core app functionality and save your study progress.
- Apply and manage app-block rules you configure.
- Process text you submit for AI flashcard generation.
- Validate subscriptions and restore paid access.
- Fix bugs, prevent abuse, and improve app quality.
- Respond to support requests and user feedback.
4. On-Device Storage and External Processing
Most study and app-blocking data is stored locally on your iPhone. Local storage supports speed, offline use, and reduced data sharing.
Some features require external processing, such as AI flashcard generation, subscription entitlement checks, and reliability tooling. If account or cloud-sync features are added later, we will update this policy.
5. Screen Time, FamilyControls, and ManagedSettings
Bouncer uses Apple Screen Time and FamilyControls permissions (and related frameworks such as ManagedSettings) so you can select apps to block, apply shields to those selected apps, and enforce unlock timers after study challenges. App selections are represented by Apple privacy-preserving tokens and are used to provide blocking features.
This permission does not give Bouncer access to private content inside other apps.
You can control these permissions in iOS Settings. If permission is removed, some blocking features may not function.
6. Permissions
Depending on features you use, Bouncer may request:
- Screen Time / FamilyControls access for app selection, app blocking, shields, and unlock timers.
- Camera access if you choose to scan or capture content for study features.
- Photos access if you choose to import images or media from your photo library.
- Notifications to send reminders, study alerts, timer updates, or other app-related notices you enable.
You can revoke permissions at any time in iOS Settings, though doing so may reduce functionality.
7. Analytics and Crash Reporting
We may use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand stability, diagnose crashes, debug issues, and improve reliability.
Where supported, we take steps to minimize collected data and avoid unnecessary personal information.
8. Subscriptions and Payments
Subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store. Apple handles App Store payments and payment details.
RevenueCat may be used to manage subscription status and feature access, including restore purchases.
9. Data Sharing
We may share limited information in these cases:
- With service providers that support analytics, crash reporting, subscription infrastructure, or customer support.
- When required by law, regulation, subpoena, or legal process.
- To protect rights, safety, and security of users, our services, or the public.
- As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or business transfer, subject to appropriate confidentiality obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
10. Data Retention
We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including legal, accounting, and operational requirements.
Data stored locally on your device remains until you delete it, remove the app, or reset your device backups (as applicable).
11. Accounts and Deletion
The current version of Bouncer does not require account creation or login. Because there is no account system, account deletion is not currently applicable.
12. Children's Privacy
Bouncer is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) without parent or guardian involvement. If you believe a child has provided personal information in violation of applicable law, contact us and we will review and address the issue.
13. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. International Use
If you use Bouncer from outside the country where our operations are based, your information may be processed in jurisdictions with different data protection laws.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and may provide additional in-app or website notice where appropriate.
